Rather, you are filled with grief because I have said these things. But very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.

John 16:6-7

The sorrowing disciples must have been really surprised at the words of the Lord Jesus, as He explained to them that it will be more advantageous for them that He goes away, because the Comforter who will come in His name is more capable and adaptable to meet their needs than he Jesus would! That must have shocked them. For about three years He has been their everything, and met every need, to them He was irreplaceable.   We today must either learn to draw directly from the fountain of divine consolation or starve.   The comforter is here.  Instead of running to dry wells talk to Him, to pour balm on your inner wounds.
