In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 1:13-14

Pay close attention to these two words: SEAL and ERNEST. The seal here represents a royal stamp, signet. But here it is not just a royal seal, it is a Divine seal of ownership and security. It means access is denied to anyone else. The presence of the Holy Spirit in your life seals you with the royal Divine seal of approval, ownership, preservation, and security. Earnest means a guarantee, the first installment, the pledge, the foretaste. So the Holy Spirit is sent from the Father in Jesus’ name to begin to grant the child of God the foretaste of what awaits them in heaven. The earth is the place of the foretastes. Hell is also busy giving people a foretaste of the hell that awaits those who are headed in that direction. The Holy Ghost’s basket is full of the wonder of heaven’s riches to every child of God.
