Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Hebrews 12:1-3

The race we are running is not a lonely one. On the pathway we can see footprints of those who have gone through what we are no going through and victoriously arrived at the destination. Along the path we can also see the carcasses of those who fell by the wayside. We can be inspired and resolved drawing courage from those who were triumphant. But not only those who have gone ahead but also those who are running alongside with us and are making good progress, determined to win. Much more if no one else motivates, inspires us, then let us set our ultimate gaze on our Lord Jesus Christ. Union with Christ guarantees our ultimate victory.
