Welcome to this beautiful topic of study. I believe it will be of a great blessing to you and will cheer you up to take steps forward in the Lord Jesus Christ.
The word "separation" is simple and can be understood just simply as "keeping away", "seclusion", "and keep a distance from something or somebody or some place". In any context you understand it. It is a key word or act in Christianity. Throughout the ages God ahs always placed a great emphasis on Separation.
Do you know that God is not just holy? He is Holiness.
God is not just pure. He is purity.
He is not just righteous. He is righteousness.
Satan brought Sin blight on the whole creation. God can do all things. Yes, we always say. But one thing God cannot do is to sin.
Sin hides God (Isaiah 59:1-2). God Himself is light and has nothing to do with the darkness of Sin.
Holiness and Sin are parallel lines that have no meeting point. They are eternity apart.
God is Holiness and Satan is Sin.
In our lives as Children of God, His holiness demands a clear-cut line between us and whatever tends to Sin.
Hear Him pleading:
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? Or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, s aith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (II. Corinthians 6:14-18)
This is not a hard demand. It is a father's plea to children he loves. His zeal of Fatherhood appeals to our Childhood.
From this quotation, we are called the righteousness while the unbeliever is called unrighteousness. We are called light while the unbeliever is called darkness. We are called Christ, i.e., Christ's, while the unbeliever is called the devil's own. We are the temple of God. Hallelujah.
Then comes the deep heart plea: "Come out" and be separate. Before we came to Christ and became born again, we freely lived within the sin circle. We strolled from one sin post to the other - freely without minding. That was the devil's sin circumreference. We all had our shares of it - miserable offenders. Read I Peter 4:3, Ephesians 2:2-3.
But then came His mercy rain upon our hearts. The ringing of the blessed Gospel of Jesus Christ that has so saved our souls! O' Hallelujah. Introducing our hearts to the Fatherhood of this Holy God. Read Titus 3:4-5.
Beloved, I think we better pause here and give heart-felt thanks to Jesus. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
Separation entails giving up habits that are contrary to true holiness. Think about worldly music; think about cinema. Films that are demon oriented, destined to promote Sin and evil.
Of course magazines, i.e. pornographic magazines and all such types of satanic alphabets. Read Titus 3:8.
A true born again Christian should be careful with what he or she watches on television.
Don't stain yourself with sinful parties and dances. Be careful with the drinks you drink. If you give devil one centimeter he takes a kilometer. Read Ephesians 4:27.
Separation involves separation of sinful relationships, for example fornication mates, adultery friends. Gangs, clubs and occult brotherhoods. God forbid that I will advice a precious born again Child of God to go to Jehovah Witness, to New Age meetings, to Catholic temples, witches coven, or to visit witches and wizards. False prophets, i.e., fortune tellers, and occult healing homes. Again I say God forbid. Then you say what of Mormons, still I say God forbid. Any gatherings of fellowships that are not the gathering of born again Christians I say with tears God forbid. Read Colossians 2:21, Ephesians 5:11, I Corinthians 10:20-21.
Come out and be ye separate in Love's precious delight. That is the voice of light. That is the heart beat of God, His ambition, dream and ultimate will.
Why so, O' God, you may cry out! Listen, it is just natural that light and darkness cannot associate. It is natural that dogs and sheep cannot associate. Think about it. Then ponder with sincerity if Jesus Christ has any fellowship with devils - of course, never. Then humbly trace your steps out of those hideous satanic cages. Galatians 5:1.
Sure your occupation may be affected. The Bible instructs us to engage in honest works and business. How clean are your daily works and commitments. Does the Spirit of God within you grant you liberty and peace in doing what you are doing? Read Ephesians 4:28, I John 3:21.
Separation is the beauty of Christianity. It begins in our spirits when we are born again. By the Holy Spirit your spirits are separated form spiritual adulteries. From pollutions and stains of satanic spirits. We become new creations having the nature and life of god in our spirits. Evil spirits have no more access to our human spirits. They cannot approach them because our spirits are full of light and righteousness of God, because the Holy Spirit indwells the spirits of any true born again Christian. Amen - Hallelujah. Read II Corinthians 5:17, Titus 3:5, II Peter 1:4.
Through this marvelous indwelling of the Mighty Holy Spirit, we become the temples of the Living God. Can't that make you happy, doesn't that make you shout, that you, yes, even you are the temple of this Holy God? Read I Corinthians 3:16, I Corinthians 6:19-20, II Corinthians 6:16.
God lives in the believer, yes, we are actually His temple. He lives in you, He lives in me.
In the Old Testament God's presence was in the Holy of Holies, i.e. the most holy place in the temple in Jerusalem. And also during the times of Moses, God lived in tents and tabernacles, but from the death of Jesus, such presence left the hand made temples. The Blood of Jesus Christ has made it possible for God to indwell the believer. O' the wonder of the Blood of Jesus.
I wonder why he is so concerned about our being separate! I wonder why He deeply insists on this through the ages!! O' God, help us to understand. Amen.
So now we are the dwelling place of God. Yes, we are, for God does not dwell in temples made with hands. Read Acts 17:24.
God delights in making His dwelling place glorious. He beautifies His temple with Holiness. Holiness is the beauty of God. His radiance and the Glory of His personality. Don't hurt Him, yes, I plead, don't grieve Him, make His temple beautiful in holiness. Read Psalm 149:4, I Corinthians 3:17.
Come out from among them and be ye separate and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you and yea shall be my Sons and Daughters!
Do you know why? He wants to associate with you; he wants to flavor you with His presence every day. He wants to be a part of you r daily life. He delights in having deep fellowship with you. He is our Father, He is holy, and we are His Children. This has been His dream from the beginning. This is why he made man in Genesis 1:27. We are object of His love. He loves His Children; His Father heart seeks the communion of His Children.
Give Him your attention, respect His presence in your life. Honor Him with holy attitudes. Pay attention to His Word. Listen, He is in you, and he is not silent, He speaks. He wants fellowship with you. Live daily with the consciousness of His abiding Presence. He is not an absent Landlord. He is home in His Flat, even you!
Glory to God.
Share my little poem:
High temper, Restless moments, even the beating of the heart soon runs out of schedule Like weak bird in weak nest. Hard wind on the tree I sought refuge. my Soul was invaded and knew no rest. Desperate agonies, frightening loneliness, I felt it, yes, it was dark and gloom. Loneliness - loneliness - even in midst of many. O' life I even abhor thee. But came a strange knocker. Knocker that could not give up. With trembling hand I did open. Then came the blessed Savior Of my Soul. And what can I say to Thee O' wonderful One from above! You gave me a new song and gave me a new life. Even the climate of your presence daily flavors my thoughts with endless delight. Abide with my Soul For Thou art life indeed. Amen, Hallelujah.
